1981 MacGregor Venture of Newport 23 Sailboat
with trailer included
The MacGregor is one of the fastest boats of it's size. Its long flat under body permits high speed surfing and planning, and the deep, efficient keel provides stability and lift for excellent performance when sailing into the wind.

The Venture of Newport is a cutter rig. The obvious characteristics of the Newport are it’s a swing-keel cutter with two foresails. With its raked mast, signature taffrail, bowsprit and classic lines, this versatile and practical boat evokes the nostalgia of sailing vessels from a century ago. Yet with a sturdy fiberglass hull and fully retractable iron swing keel this vessel is easy to maintain and at home on a trailer, beached in a quiet cove, or plying the inland and coastal waterways. The hull construction is  fiberglass. The trailer's frame well maintained, but may need new tires soon and new wiring. The sails are in excellent condition and are colored yellow, blue, and white. All ringing is high quality stainless steel.

The good: Fiberglass hull is in excellent condition. The trailer frame is sturdy and shows no signs of rust. Sails are in good to great condition with no rips, tears, or loosening of threads. The rutter is in good condition, with all parts, and only needs to be reattached. The mast and boom are in great condition, along with all the connecting lines. The gunwhale's wood is still solid and sturdy. Includes two anchors. No "soft spots" within the hull.

The not so good: No engine. The teak wood railing on the stern is old and rotted. Needs removal and replacement. The starboard rail on the trailer has rotted and needs replacement. Tires show slight signs of dry rot and will need to be replaced if being left to park. Tiller is cracked and make not be able to be used without some mending. The wiring on the trailer is missing.

Boat was originally sold by the Sun Sailboats, out of Irving, Texas. Sails are made by Vector Sails. Trailer by Performance trailers.
